BOP at TMU
Chapter Directors
The TMU chapter was founded in 2023 by two TMU students who wanted to address homelessness and support individuals in need within the Toronto community. The chapter exists to bring the mission of Bags of Promise directly to the TMU campus and surrounding community by giving students meaningful opportunities to get involved in service, advocacy, fundraising, and outreach. We support the broader BOP mission by organizing bag drives and fundraising initiatives, building partnerships with student organizations and local businesses, raising awareness about homelessness on campus, and encouraging TMU students to turn awareness into meaningful action.

Our Support
We support Covenant House as our shelter because of its focus on supporting youth experiencing homelessness, which aligns closely with our mission. Our support responds to the local need for essential resources and community support for youth experiencing homelessness in Toronto. Through our bag drive, we aim to provide practical necessities while raising awareness about youth homelessness.

Impact in the Community
Our primary service initiative is of course our annual bag drive, where we collect and distribute essential items to support youth experiencing homelessness in Toronto. Our fundraising efforts include campus booths, and themed fundraising events, including planned collaborations with local businesses. We have also co-organised awareness-focused events such as panels and discussions to create meaningful conversations around homelessness and the Toronto housing crisis. On campus, we participate in student group fairs and other outreach opportunities to educate students about homelessness, recruit volunteers, and encourage students to take action.
